1. The problem with physical barriers

Dams, pumping stations, sluices, and hydropower intakes kill migrating eel.

Current solutions — physical passages, screens, and traps — have real limits:

• Expensive to build and install
• High-maintenance — they clog, wear, and need repair
• Incomplete — they don't work at every site or for every species
• Stressful for fish — handling and crowding cause injury and mortality

The eel does not need another passage. It needs to be guided.

2. Our solution: a behavioral barrier

AnguillaLight develops tunable LED light systems that steer eel away from danger and toward safe routes.

Silver eel avoid light. By tuning wavelength, intensity, pulse rate, and geometry to each site, we create a behavioral barrier that guides eel past dams, pumping stations, and hydropower intakes — without physical structures.

The eel chooses the safe route. We don't force it.

3. What makes our system different
